Night Danger 05:13
When we set out on this road it was half past dawn Instinct called our names, yeah it called us on Cymbals crashed like thunder to warn us so, Of the Night Danger coming: heed ho, heed ho. Mothers warn your daughters, fathers tell your sons Night Dangers coming for everyone Promise me now to love your lover For love without heart will break one another Deep debt to pay in each other’s wake Night Dangers coming, your hearts will break. Oh mythical creature Oh fancy being Tell me not that you are true That it’s reality I am seeing Your temptations for my own Are draining on my soul And your charms suck my life Oh be gone now with all your strife

The Storm 03:36
The sky was static, asymptomatic And I stood breathing for a while The heavens opened, they cracked and opened A great rumble echoed out I contemplated, oh I weighted, Death, life and in-between And the essence of the lessons That had made their way to me And I screamed, God! Oh, can you hear me? And the sky retorted low Angry, and striking brightly In sympathy with my woe And I whispered, oh I whispered That I did agree, As a storm, wild and furious Came to engulf me. And if love was really wealth I would be a poor maid For my investments, poorly chosen, Returned no interest paid. Well I was never much for bankers, More for men of books For I envisioned a love with intellect, A deep soul and good looks. I thought I had it, I thought I’d found it — Like a dream heaven sent — But upon waking, confused and shaking Wondering where he went

Would you sing me a song, oh troubled one? You are reckless in defeat, harsh as the noonday sun. By the light & the load we are one. There’s a darkness in your soul, untapped and unexplored There’s a fire in your mind it’s burning at the door. By the light & the load we are one. I would sing you a song, oh troubled one If I thought it would mend all that’s become If a song could ease all of your pain I would write you the sweetest refrains But by the light and the load you’re undone. And so all that once was has too become So for now we shall part like moon & sun But by the light and the load once we were one.

This ship will ride on this moonless night Past the banks of kings in modern times Gifting I give an attempt to relive For a moment that dream which was so sublime. The air here is dense, The wind shaking my sense But still it appears As though heaven were near Forget your follies Give into me only Remember you know me You don’t have to be lonely No Delilah ever was I Still yet to part, how it weighs in our hearts Leaving only for us a moment of time Aware that it seemed, we’d slipped back to our dream As for now our fates were so aligned But lo you’ll deny me, refuse and decry me Oh love never you felt Addled and shaken, alone and forsaken Oh fatal blows have you dealt

Locked and loaded and she’s ready to go Engines rumbling on an iron road Picking up speed, going fast as the wind Midnight Train coming ‘round the bend Midnight Train going all the way down Tearing through the night in a sleepy town Goin’ whoooo… Whoooo… The tracks were laid a hundred years ago And still run beside the road But don’t be caught on those rumpled ridges When the whistle begins to blow This train don’t stop, she takes no breaks, No telling her to “whoa” She takes her freight all through the night ‘Till the morning light does glow Midnight train going all the way down Tearing through the night in a sleepy town ‘Cross the lake now, she’s coming around Goin’ whoooo… Whoooo… And all the cars were stopped on the highway.

I dream that I am cold and my shoes won’t fit my feet I’m tugging at the ties; I’m tugging at the ties. My sight cannot be trusted; this seems that it’s unreal, I’m sorting the truth from lies, I’m sorting the truth from lies. So tell me what poison you drank To turn your heart from mine There’s a mountain here for us to climb And you won’t go alone, but you won’t take my line. And oh, weren’t we so beautiful in the late afternoon sun, When you held me close and our bodies were one? There’s a mountain here for us to climb And you won’t go alone, but you won’t take my line. Now your shoes won’t fit and you know not who you are Pulling yourself apart, pulling yourself apart. For now you’ll go and hide from a world that needs your fire Seeking what’s in your heart, seeking what’s in your heart. But tell me what poison you drank To turn your heart from mine Tell me what path I should take Tell me where an antidote I will find. There’s a mountain here for us to climb And you won’t go alone, but you won’t take my line.

When we set out on this road it was half past dawn Affection called our names, yeah it called us on We answered to the summons having shed our fears And knowing that the feeling was pure and clear At least that’s what I wait for At least that’s what I pray for At least that’s what I hope for Oh I pray, and I hope.

Spent the summer waiting for you to come on home Patient in the evening, content to be alone And oh anticipation did silently condone A wild-eyed hope and wonder for a love that was postponed And oh, how I should have known That you would prefer to be alone Do you know what it is you ask of me? Lovers to friends is something I just cannot be Wasted at the hands of your epiphany That a journey lies before you With no room for company For you I wrote an album’s worth of songs Carefully crafted, singing love ever long And oh, I’m not your songbird And no, I never was You silenced me forever Your own words were the cause. And oh, while those sentiments remain To sing for you now would be in vain.

Lay it down slack on the backs of these waters And I will tarry on home We blazed these trails through mountains and valleys Called the paths we made our own Well ours was a bridge of silver and gold Ours was a bridge to home The piper piping his sweet reverie, “Come to places you have known.” So follow his tune ‘cross a desert dune Cross-country you shall roam In the smoke of the fire, in the wake of the deluge Your weaknesses were shown When the journey leaves you tired and bleeds you Trust your soul to home And you know you can run Yes you know, you can run But one day you’ll have to come on home

Heal My Soul 03:44
Give me a country road Past pastures green and gold Give me a half hung sun Just before the day is done Give me a warm fast wind To sweep away my sins And I will And I will heal my soul Give me a cool clear lake Its beauty teems with grace Its surface shining Like a perfectly cut diamond And oh how its waters will Wash away my ills And I will I will heal my soul And I won’t give myself to endless pining Caught on the shores of poor designing No I won’t give in, oh I won’t give in This time, This time Give me a warm heartbeat To partake in all my feats Give me a steady friend On whom I can depend Give me a fellow ally To share my days by and by And we will We will heal our souls.

Farewell 06:43
I put my pen down, I’ve finished here For you it’s a chapter, the end of the year. But I’ve filled these pages to the brim Time to crack a new spine and start over again. I wish you’d taken that letter I meant to tuck inside your neatly folded sweater And drop it at your door A steadfast, silent declaration of war It went like: Dare I ask you, what are you so afraid of? I hope the North will treat you kind And when you’re back downtown think of me some time. You left without a goodbye It broke me a little on the inside.
